FAQs

Can I use this combo for saltwater fishing?

Yes, it can be used in saltwater, but you must thoroughly rinse the gear with fresh water after every outing to prevent corrosion.

What is the maximum lure weight recommended?

This combo is designed for lures up to 28g, which provides the best balance for the rod's medium action.

Does the reel come with a spare spool?

The product includes an aluminium spool, but it does not come with an additional spare spool.

How do I replace the pre-spooled braid?

Simply strip the existing line and wind on new line, ensuring you maintain tension to prevent the braid from digging into itself.

What kind of maintenance does the cork handle need?

Gently wipe the cork with a damp cloth and mild soap if it becomes soiled; do not use harsh chemicals.

Troubleshooting

Reel handle feels stiff during retrieval

Check the bail arm for debris and ensure the handle is tightened securely to the drive gear.

Line tangles during casting

Ensure the line was not overfilled on the spool and check that the rod guides are free of line twist.

Drag is slipping too easily

Rotate the drag knob clockwise to increase tension to your preferred setting within the 4.5kg limit.

Pros and Cons

  • Solid 4.5kg maximum drag for various fishing conditions

Cons

  • Medium action might be too flexible for heavy-duty saltwater use
  • Limited to 2000 size reel capacity
  • Split cork handle requires careful cleaning to avoid staining

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your Zebco Spin Combo remains in peak condition, follow these guidelines:

  1. Assembly: Carefully align the rod sections, ensuring the guides are perfectly straight before securing the reel to the seat.
  2. Maintenance: After use, particularly in saline environments, rinse the rod and reel with fresh water and wipe with a dry cloth. Avoid direct high-pressure spray into the reel housing.
  3. Line Care: Periodically check the 0.14mm braid for abrasions or fraying, especially near the lure connection, to prevent line snaps during a fight.
  4. Storage: Store the rod in a cool, dry place and avoid leaning it against walls at sharp angles to prevent blank damage.
