FAQs

What is the max drag capacity of the reel?

The reel has a maximum drag rating of 4.5kg, which is sufficient for most general float fishing requirements.

Can I replace the pre-loaded line?

Yes, you can strip the existing 0.26mm line and spool it with a different diameter line that suits your specific target species.

How much does the rod weigh?

The rod weighs 165g, making it exceptionally lightweight for long days on the water.

Is the reel left or right-handed?

The reel is designed for standard use, but the handle is typically swappable to accommodate both left and right-handed retrieve preferences.

What does the 3+1 ball bearing system mean?

It refers to three stainless steel ball bearings for smooth operation and one roller bearing for the instant anti-reverse system.

Troubleshooting

Telescopic rod section stuck

Do not force the section. Use a rubber grip tool or a clean cloth to twist the section gently while pulling. Avoid using oil, as this attracts grit.

Line tangling during retrieval

Ensure the line is correctly seated on the line roller and check that the line tension is maintained while reeling in.

Reel handle feels stiff

Ensure the anti-reverse switch is in the correct position and check for any debris trapped near the handle shaft.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extremely portable due to the telescopic rod design
Pre-spooled and ready for immediate use
Lightweight construction at only 165g for the rod
Ergonomic handle with quality cork materials
Smooth 3+1 ball bearing system

Cons

Telescopic rods require careful cleaning to prevent grit buildup
Limited to 40g casting weight, not suitable for heavy ledgering
Fixed line diameter on spool may not suit all target species

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Zebco Float Combo, follow these best practices:

Setup: Fully extend each rod section gently, ensuring they are snug but not forced. Check that your line flows smoothly through the guides from the reel to the tip.
Compatibility: The 0.26mm line is best suited for general-purpose fishing of roach, bream, and medium-sized carp. Ensure your float weights do not exceed the 40g rating.
Care: After fishing, wipe down the rod blanks with a damp cloth to remove moisture and debris. If you have been fishing in salt or brackish water, rinse the reel with a light mist of freshwater and dry thoroughly. Periodically check the joints of the telescopic sections for grit to prevent abrasion.
