FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for overpronation?
The 680v9 is designed as a neutral trainer. Runners who require significant stability or motion control for severe overpronation may prefer a specialized stability model.
Can I use these for gym workouts?
Yes, while primarily built for running, their stable, neutral design makes them functional for general gym training and weight lifting.
How often should I replace these trainers?
As a general guideline, running shoes should be replaced every 300 to 500 miles, depending on your running surface and intensity.
Are these true to size?
Yes, the New Balance 680v9 generally fits true to size for standard adult feet.
Can I remove the insole?
Yes, the insole is removable, which allows for the insertion of custom orthotics if required.
Are these shoes waterproof?
No, the textile upper is designed for maximum breathability and will allow water to pass through if the shoe is submerged or exposed to heavy rain.
Troubleshooting
Feeling pressure points during long runs
Adjust the lacing tension, specifically at the midfoot, to ensure the shoe is not too tight across the bridge.
Excessive movement or heel slippage
Use the extra top eyelet to create a runner's loop, which securely locks the heel in place.
Material showing surface dust or grime
Use a dry, soft-bristled brush to gently remove surface debris after every run to maintain the breathability of the textile mesh.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your 680v9 trainers, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Fit Adjustment: Lace the shoes securely before each use, ensuring the tongue is centered to prevent friction.
- Cleaning: Remove loose dirt with a soft brush after muddy runs. If necessary, clean with a damp cloth and mild soap; avoid submerging in water or using a washing machine, which can damage the adhesive and cushioning.
- Drying: Air dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators, as high temperatures can warp the midsole material.
- Rotation: If you run daily, consider rotating with another pair of shoes to allow the cushioning foam to fully decompress between sessions.
