Product Information

Full details

The Built Right U Trim in white is an essential finishing component for DIY enthusiasts and professional installers working with 8mm bathroom or decorative wall cladding panels. It is designed to provide a clean, professional edge where a cladding run terminates, protecting exposed panel ends and enhancing the overall aesthetic of wet rooms and bathrooms. While this trim is highly durable and easy to install, users must ensure it is compatible with their specific 8mm panel thickness, as it is not suitable for thicker wallboards or non-cladding installations.

FAQs

Can I use this trim with 10mm panels?

No, the Built Right U Trim is specifically designed for 8mm thick cladding panels. Using it with thicker panels will not provide a secure fit.

What tools do I need to cut the trim?

A standard fine-tooth hacksaw or a sharp handsaw is sufficient for cutting the PVC material.

Is this trim waterproof?

Yes, the material is moisture-resistant and suitable for use in wet areas like shower cubicles and bathrooms when installed with appropriate sealant.

Can I paint these trims?

While the trim has a high-quality white finish, it is generally not recommended to paint it, as most household paints will not adhere well to the PVC surface.

How do I secure the trim to the wall?

The trim is typically secured by the friction fit over the panel and a bead of adhesive or silicone applied inside the channel.

Troubleshooting

Trim feels loose on the panel

Ensure you are using standard 8mm cladding; if the fit remains loose, apply a small bead of silicone inside the trim channel before sliding it on.

Trim is difficult to push onto the panel

Check the edge of your panel for burrs or jagged cut marks. File or sand the panel edge lightly to ensure it enters the trim smoothly.

Trim does not reach the corner/end

Always measure twice and cut once. If the gap is small, you may be able to use a color-matched sealant to bridge the join.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To achieve the best results, start by measuring the exact height or length of your wall run. Use a fine-tooth hacksaw or a miter saw to cut the trim to the desired length. Before applying any adhesive, conduct a 'dry fit' by sliding the trim over the panel edge to ensure the fit is snug. When fixing, use a solvent-free adhesive or neutral cure silicone suitable for plastic materials. For cleaning, simply wipe the surface with a soft cloth and non-abrasive household cleaner; avoid harsh chemical solvents which may dull the white finish over time.
