Nike Air Zoom Vomero 18 - Dusty Cactus Geode Teal - UK 9

The Vomero 18 is ideal for neutral runners looking for a highly cushioned and comfortable shoe for daily training, long runs, and recovery runs. It provides excellent impact absorption for consistent mileage.

Running shoes typically need to be replaced every 300-500 miles (approximately 480-800 kilometers), depending on your running style, body weight, and the surfaces you run on. Pay attention to signs of wear like reduced cushioning or outsole degradation.

While the Vomero 18 offers responsive cushioning, its primary design focus is on comfort and protection for daily training and long runs. For dedicated speed work or racing, many runners prefer lighter, more aggressive shoes with a firmer ride for optimal performance.

Hand wash your shoes with mild soap and cold water, gently scrubbing with a soft brush. Avoid machine washing or drying, as this can damage the materials. Stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and air dry at room temperature.

Nike Zoom Air is a proprietary cushioning technology that uses pressurized air and tensile fibers inside a Nike Air unit to absorb impact and then snap back for fast, responsive cushioning. It provides a 'poppy' or 'springy' feel.

The Vomero series generally offers a comfortable fit. While not specifically a wide-fit shoe, the engineered mesh upper has some adaptability. If you typically require a dedicated wide-fit shoe, it's recommended to try them on to ensure adequate comfort.

Re-check your lacing technique to ensure it's not too tight across the top of your foot. Also, ensure you have the correct size; consider trying a half-size up or down if discomfort persists. Ensure your socks are not too thick.

Try using a 'heel lock' lacing technique (also known as a 'runner's knot'). This helps to secure the heel more effectively within the shoe. Ensure the shoe is laced snugly but not overly tight.

While the Vomero 18 has a durable outsole, excessive wear can indicate gait imbalances or that the shoes are past their optimal mileage. Consider having your gait analyzed by a specialist or track your mileage and replace shoes every 300-500 miles, depending on your running style and weight.

Squeaking can sometimes occur due to friction between the insole and the shoe's lasting board. Try removing the insole, sprinkling a small amount of baby powder inside the shoe, and then replacing the insole. If the squeak persists, it might be due to external moisture or material interaction.
