Full details

The adidas Adistar Control 5 trainers are designed for individuals who appreciate a fusion of 2000s-era running aesthetics with modern lifestyle comfort. These trainers are ideal for daily wearers looking for a stable, cushioned shoe with a distinctive, high-contrast visual style, though those seeking a high-performance modern marathon shoe may find the retro design and material profile less suited to elite athletic demands.

FAQs

Are these shoes suitable for long-distance running?

While based on a historic running series, the Adistar Control 5 is now primarily intended for lifestyle and casual use rather than modern competitive running.

How do I choose the right size?

These trainers generally fit true to size. If you have a wider foot, consider wearing them with thin performance socks to optimize the fit of the mesh upper.

Can I put these in the washing machine?

It is not recommended to machine wash these trainers, as heat and agitation can damage the metallic detailing and adhesive integrity.

What is the primary material used?

The upper is primarily composed of breathable open mesh, complemented by synthetic overlays for durability and style.

Does the Adiprene+ provide noticeable cushioning?

Yes, Adiprene+ in the forefoot is specifically designed to provide a responsive "push-off" feel during walking, offering more support than a standard flat lifestyle sneaker.

Troubleshooting

Visible dirt trapped in mesh

Use a soft-bristled brush or a dry toothbrush to gently dislodge debris from the mesh pores.

Creasing on midsole

This is common with EVA foam; rotating your footwear daily allows the foam to recover its shape, extending the lifespan of the midsole.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Distinctive retro 2000s aesthetic
Breathable open mesh construction
Reliable forefoot cushioning for daily use
Durable outsole design

Cons

Design leans towards lifestyle rather than specialized performance
Specific vintage styling may not suit all wardrobes
Material blend prioritizes style over advanced lightweight synthetic tech

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your Adistar Control 5 trainers remain in top condition, follow these simple maintenance steps:

Cleaning: Wipe the open mesh upper with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid submerging the shoes in water as this can degrade the synthetic overlays and structural integrity.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the metallic silver detailing from fading or cracking.
Lacing: Use the eyelets to customize your lockdown feel; ensure laces are not overtightened to prevent putting unnecessary pressure on the mesh upper.
Compatibility: These trainers pair well with both casual denim and athletic-inspired leisurewear, making them a versatile choice for your rotation.
