Product Information

Full details

The Celotex XR4150 is a versatile, high-performance polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation board ideal for professionals and serious DIYers looking to improve thermal efficiency in roofs, floors, and walls. Its standout feature is its impressive 0.022 W/mK thermal conductivity, providing substantial insulation with a 150mm thickness; however, its rigid nature requires careful measuring and cutting to ensure a snug fit in tight cavities.

FAQs

Is the XR4150 suitable for damp areas?

The board features foil facings that provide a level of moisture resistance, but it should not be used in direct contact with standing water.

Can I use this board for flat roof insulation?

Yes, the XR4150 is specifically designed for versatile use, including flat roof systems.

How do I cut the boards safely?

Use a fine-tooth saw in a well-ventilated area and always wear appropriate dust protection, such as a face mask and goggles.

What is the thickness of this board?

The XR4150 model is 150mm thick.

Does this board provide acoustic insulation?

While the primary function is thermal insulation, the density of the PIR core provides minor sound-dampening properties, though it is not a dedicated acoustic solution.

Is the board flammable?

PIR insulation is combustible and should be protected from direct contact with ignition sources and installed according to local fire safety regulations.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty achieving a tight fit between studs

Use a straight edge to mark accurate lines and cut 2-3mm wider than the opening to friction-fit the board.

Board surface damaged during installation

Minor surface tears in the foil can be repaired using high-quality aluminum foil tape to maintain vapor seal integrity.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent thermal performance per unit of thickness
Versatile application range across roofs, floors, and walls
Environmentally conscious with a BRE Green Guide Rating of A
Rigid structure maintains shape over long periods
BBA certified for quality and reliability

Cons

Requires precise cutting for non-standard wall spaces
Large board size can be difficult to maneuver in tight stairwells or attics
Not suitable for curved surfaces due to rigid foam core

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation of the XR4150 board is straightforward due to its lightweight composition. Use a fine-toothed hand saw or a circular saw with a dust extraction system to cut boards to the required dimensions. For masonry walls or stud frames, boards should be held in place with appropriate mechanical fixings or approved adhesives. Ensure the boards are kept dry during storage; while the foil facing is moisture-resistant, the PIR core should not be subjected to prolonged saturation. Always consult the building regulations relevant to your region to ensure the correct thickness and installation method for your specific building element.
