Troubleshooting

Uneven finish or brush marks

Ensure paint is stirred thoroughly. Use a good quality synthetic brush designed for water-based paints. Apply thin, even coats and maintain a 'wet edge' to avoid lap marks. Ensure the surface is properly prepared and smooth.

Paint not drying or peeling

Check application temperature and humidity; avoid applying in very cold, damp, or excessively hot conditions. Ensure the surface was clean, dry, and free from contaminants before painting. Do not apply excessively thick coats.

Poor adhesion or chipping

Surface preparation is key. Ensure the surface was clean, dry, and free from grease or dust. For difficult surfaces like bare wood or metal, ensure appropriate priming has been done. Avoid applying over incompatible finishes.

Excessive odor

Although water-based, some odor is expected. Ensure adequate ventilation during and after application. If odor persists, ensure the paint is fully cured.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean, and dry before application. For new surfaces, particularly ensure they are fully dry. For detailed preparation guidelines, refer to the Dulux Trade Datasheet 551. For old lead paints, consult Health & Safety information before starting.

Priming: On previously coated or primed surfaces, two full coats are recommended. If undertaking a strong color change or overcoating factory-primed substrates, consider applying a coat of Dulux Trade Quick Dry Undercoat.

Application: Stir thoroughly before use. Apply using a good quality synthetic brush (nylon polyester), roller, or spray. Thinning is not usually necessary, but if required, add up to 1 part clean water to 20 parts paint.

Compatibility: Best suited for MDF, metal, and wood. Suitable for use in bathrooms, bedrooms, children's rooms, dining rooms, hallways, home offices, kitchens, and living rooms.

Tool Cleaning: After use, remove excess paint from equipment before cleaning thoroughly with water.

Storage: Do not use or store in extreme temperatures. Protect from frost.
