FAQs

Are the Clifton 10s good for wide feet?

The jacquard knit upper provides some natural stretch, but if you have significantly wide feet, look for dedicated wide-width variants.

Can these be used for trail running?

The Clifton 10 is designed primarily for road and pavement; it lacks the deep lugging and stone protection required for technical trails.

How often should I replace these shoes?

Generally, you should consider replacing them every 300 to 500 miles, depending on your running surface and body weight.

Is the midsole too soft?

The plushness is a core feature for shock absorption, but if you prefer a firmer feel, you may need a different model.

Are they waterproof?

No, the jacquard upper is designed for breathability and will not repel water; avoid heavy rain or puddles.

Troubleshooting

Feeling instability on sharp corners

Ensure the laces are securely tightened through the second eyelet to maximize the effectiveness of the Active Foot Frame.

Upper material feels tight across the top of the foot

Try skipping the eyelet where the pressure is felt or adjust the lacing pattern to a wider configuration to relieve tension.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Superior plush cushioning ideal for long-distance comfort
Lightweight construction reduces fatigue over time
Breathable upper prevents overheating
Stable, neutral platform suitable for various foot types
Durable outsole provides reliable traction on asphalt and pavement

Cons

Maximalist sole height may feel bulky for some runners
Not suitable for technical trail or uneven off-road terrain
Requires break-in time for the unique rocker geometry

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your HOKA Clifton 10s perform optimally, use the double-lace lock system to customize the tension across your midfoot, ensuring it is snug but not restrictive. These shoes are best paired with technical running socks to maximize moisture-wicking efficiency. To clean your shoes, remove surface dirt with a soft brush and clean the exterior using a damp cloth with mild soap; do not submerge in water or place in a washing machine, as this can degrade the specialized midsole foams. Allow the shoes to air dry away from direct heat sources to maintain the integrity of the jacquard upper.
