FAQs

Can I use the USB and XLR outputs at the same time?

Yes, the AM8 allows you to use both outputs simultaneously, which is useful for recording a backup track or sending audio to two different devices.

Does the AM8 require phantom power?

No, it is a dynamic microphone and does not require 48V phantom power to function.

Can I turn off the RGB lights?

Yes, there is a dedicated button on the back of the microphone to cycle through lighting effects or turn them off entirely.

What is the benefit of the cardioid pattern?

The cardioid pattern focuses on capturing sound from the front of the mic while rejecting noise from the sides and back, resulting in a cleaner recording.

Is a pop filter included?

The AM8 features an internal windscreen, but for intense vocal work, an external pop filter can be added.

Troubleshooting

Mic is not detected via USB

Verify that the USB cable is securely connected to both the mic and the computer port, or try a different USB-C port on your machine.

Sound is too quiet

Adjust the gain knob on the front of the microphone and check that your computer's input volume settings are set to 80-100%.

Background noise is present

Ensure the front of the mic is pointed directly toward your mouth and adjust the gain lower to reduce sensitivity to distant sounds.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin, connect the provided USB-C cable to your PC or Mac for instant plug-and-play operation. For XLR use, connect a standard XLR cable to your audio interface, ensuring your interface provides adequate gain. The AM8 includes a threaded mount compatible with most standard boom arms and microphone stands. To maintain the device, avoid using liquid cleaners directly on the capsule; use a dry, soft brush to remove dust from the grille. When not in use, ensure the cable is unplugged to prevent accidental port strain.
