Full details
The adidas 5-inch swim shorts are designed for the active adult who values a blend of casual style and aquatic performance. These shorts provide a lightweight, comfortable solution for swimming or lounging by the pool, featuring quick-drying material and an adjustable fit. While perfect for leisure, users should note that the 5-inch inseam offers a shorter, more athletic cut that may not suit those who prefer a longer board-short silhouette.

FAQs
Are these shorts appropriate for competitive swimming?
These are primarily designed for leisure and casual swimming. While functional, they are not designed with the hydrodynamic compression needed for competitive racing.
Does the mesh liner cause chafing?
The mesh liner is designed to be soft and supportive. If you have sensitive skin, ensure you rinse out all chlorine or salt water immediately after swimming to prevent irritation.
How do I ensure I pick the right size?
These shorts come in a regular fit. Refer to the size S selection for your needs, utilizing the elastic waist and drawstring to fine-tune the fit once on.
Can I wear these as regular gym shorts?
Yes, their quick-drying, lightweight nature makes them suitable for light gym use or outdoor activities in warm weather.
Do the side pockets have zippers?
The product features standard side pockets for convenience, but they do not typically include zipper closures.
Troubleshooting
Drawstring feels stuck inside the waistband
Gently massage the fabric around the internal channel to locate the drawstring end and push it back through the eyelet.
Fabric retains a chlorine smell
Soak the shorts in a mixture of cold water and a small amount of mild detergent before your regular wash cycle.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Lightweight and breathable fabric
- Dries very quickly after water exposure
- Adjustable waistband prevents slippage
- Side pockets add practical utility
- Comfortable mesh liner for support
Cons
- Shorter 5-inch length may feel too brief for some
- Limited to casual and leisure swimming use
- Polyester material lacks high-stretch elasticity
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your adidas swim shorts maintain their color and integrity, follow these care instructions:
- Rinse After Use: Always rinse the shorts in fresh, cool water after swimming in chlorine or salt water to remove residues.
- Washing: Machine wash on a gentle cycle with similar colors. Avoid using harsh bleaches or fabric softeners that can degrade the moisture-wicking properties.
- Drying: Hang dry in the shade. Direct sunlight can fade the vibrant yellow color over time and excessive dryer heat can compromise the elastic waistband.
- Fit Note: The product follows a regular fit. If you find yourself between sizes, use the internal drawstring to secure the waist, as the polyester fabric does not feature significant stretch.
