Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Lacing: Ensure laces are securely tied to prevent slippage and provide a snug fit without being too tight. Many trail runners prefer a 'heel lock' lacing technique to prevent heel lift on ascents.
- Break-in Period: While ZoomX is comfortable from the start, allow for a few shorter runs to break in the upper and outsole, letting the shoe adapt to your foot and running style.
Compatibility
- Terrain: Best suited for a wide range of trail surfaces, including rocky, root-strewn, muddy, gravel, and loose dirt paths.
- Runner Type: Designed for adult male runners seeking a balance of cushioning, protection, and grip for trail running.
- Conditions: Performs well in various weather conditions, though extreme ice or deep snow may require specialized traction devices.
Product Care
Proper care extends the life and performance of your shoes.
- Cleaning: After muddy runs, gently knock off excess dirt. Use a soft brush (an old toothbrush works well) and lukewarm water with a mild soap to clean the upper and outsole. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, which can damage materials.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators or tumble dryers, as this can warp materials and degrade adhesives. Stuffing with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Inspection: Regularly check the outsole for embedded rocks or debris and remove them to maintain optimal grip.
