Product Information

Full details

The Vitus E-Sommet is a high-performance electric mountain bike designed specifically for aggressive Enduro riders who tackle steep climbs and technical descents. With a robust 630Wh battery and the powerful Shimano EP801 motor, this bike excels at providing consistent power on demanding trails, though its heavy-duty alloy construction makes it less nimble than lightweight trail bikes for casual riding.

FAQs

How long does it take to fully charge the battery?

Charging time varies depending on the current charge state and charger type, but typically takes several hours to reach full capacity.

Can I replace the battery with a larger capacity unit?

The bike is designed for the integrated 630Wh system; replacing it requires a battery compatible with the specific Shimano EP801 mounting interface.

How often should I service the suspension?

It is recommended to follow the RockShox service schedule, typically involving lower leg service every 50 hours of riding.

Is the frame compatible with different wheel sizes?

The bike is designed around the supplied WTB ST i30 setup; changing wheel geometry may affect handling and motor calibration.

What is the weight limit for this bike?

The bike is designed for standard Enduro riding; please consult the Vitus manual for specific maximum system weight limits.

Troubleshooting

Motor assistance feels intermittent

Check the battery connection to the frame and ensure the speed sensor magnet is correctly aligned on the rear wheel.

Shifting feels hesitant or noisy

Adjust the cable tension at the derailleur barrel adjuster or check for debris inside the cassette.

Brakes have reduced stopping power

Inspect pads for wear and ensure the rotors are free of oil or debris. If necessary, have the hydraulic lines bled.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Powerful motor for challenging climbs
High-capacity 630Wh battery
Confident handling on technical descents
Durable 6061-T6 alloy frame construction
Dependable 12-speed shifting

Cons

Heavy frame weight compared to non-electric models
Requires mechanical maintenance for complex e-bike systems
Less agile on tight, twisty trails

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before your first ride, ensure the 630Wh battery is fully charged using the provided Shimano charger. Check your suspension sag according to the RockShox documentation based on your body weight. Regularly inspect the 1x12 drivetrain for chain wear and ensure that the Shimano MT401 hydraulic disc brakes are bedded in properly by performing a series of controlled stops. Because the frame uses internal cable routing, handle any maintenance around the ports with care to avoid pinching. Clean the bike using a damp cloth and mild soap; avoid high-pressure power washers as these can force water into the electrical connections and sealed bearings.
