FAQs

Can I use this with 16mm or 35mm sheets?

No, the PolyX PVC F Section is precision-engineered specifically for 25mm polycarbonate sheets.

Does this provide a watertight seal?

It provides a protective finish, but it should be used in conjunction with appropriate glazing bars and gaskets to ensure a completely watertight system.

How do I cut the PVC F Section?

A fine-tooth hacksaw or a power saw with a blade suitable for plastic works best to ensure a clean, burr-free edge.

Is the material UV stable?

Yes, the PVC is designed for outdoor use and is resistant to degradation from long-term exposure to sunlight.

Can this be painted?

While the PVC is white, it is not recommended to paint it, as the movement of the plastic under temperature changes may cause the paint to crack or flake.

Troubleshooting

Profile is difficult to slide onto the sheet

Ensure the edge of the polycarbonate sheet is free of debris or burrs from cutting; light lubrication with a silicone-based spray can assist if the fit is extremely tight.

Trim appears loose on the sheet

Verify that your polycarbonate sheet is exactly 25mm in thickness, as variations in sheet manufacturing can impact the tolerance of the PVC profile.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Provides a secure, weather-resistant seal for polycarbonate edges
Easy to cut and fit for various roof dimensions
Low maintenance material that does not require painting
Enhances the structural appearance of roofing projects

Cons

Compatible only with 25mm sheet thicknesses
Requires proper cutting tools for clean corner miters
Limited to specific rafter-supported system configurations

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, ensure your 25mm polycarbonate sheet is cut to the correct dimensions. Measure the required length of the F section and use a fine-tooth saw to cut the PVC to size. Slide the profile firmly over the exposed edge of the polycarbonate sheet. For long-term care, simply wipe the trim with a mild soapy solution and a soft cloth to maintain its white finish. Avoid using harsh solvents or abrasive cleaning pads that could scratch the PVC surface.
