Product Information

Full details

The PolyX PVC F Section is an essential component for DIYers and professional contractors working on roofing projects with 16mm polycarbonate sheets. This trim provides a clean, professional finish for the edges of your installation, acting as a secure and weather-resistant barrier that shields the side of the sheets. While it offers excellent durability and aesthetic appeal for rafter-supported systems, it is specifically designed for 16mm thick polycarbonate, meaning it will not fit thinner or thicker sheet variants.

FAQs

Can I use this on 10mm polycarbonate?

No, the PolyX F Section is specifically designed for 16mm sheets and will not provide a secure fit for thinner materials.

Is the material UV stable?

Yes, the PVC is manufactured for external use and includes UV resistance to prevent yellowing over time.

Does this require adhesive or screws?

Generally, these profiles are designed for a friction fit, but some installers prefer a small bead of neutral-cure silicone for extra security.

Can the F Section be painted?

While it can be painted, it is generally recommended to leave it in its original finish to avoid cracking or peeling of the paint due to thermal expansion.

Does it come with fixing screws?

No, the profile is designed to be held in place by its own shape and the tension against the polycarbonate sheet.

Troubleshooting

The trim is difficult to slide onto the sheet

Ensure there are no burrs on the cut edge of the polycarbonate and that the sheet is perfectly square at the insertion point.

Trim feels loose on the edge

Verify that your polycarbonate sheet is exactly 16mm; if it is thinner, the trim will not grip correctly. You may need a different size profile.

Trim is too long for the roof run

Use a fine-toothed hacksaw or PVC cutter to trim the piece to the exact length required, then file the rough edges smooth.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ensures a neat and professional roof edge appearance
Easy to install on rafter-supported roofing structures
Provides essential protection against water ingress and debris
Durable material suitable for long-term outdoor exposure

Cons

Only compatible with 16mm thick polycarbonate sheets
Length may require cutting to fit specific project dimensions
Color is limited to white

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation requires basic hand tools, such as a fine-tooth saw for trimming the 3-meter sections to size. Simply slide the F-section channel over the edge of the 16mm polycarbonate sheet until it is fully seated.

Compatibility: Ensure your polycarbonate sheets are exactly 16mm thick.
Care: Periodically clean the PVC with a soft cloth and mild soapy water to maintain the white finish and remove atmospheric grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could scratch the plastic surface.
