Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Your Hunter Original Chelsea Boots are ready to wear right out of the box.
- Putting On: Utilize the front and rear nylon pull-tabs. Gently slide your foot in, stretching the elastic side gussets for a comfortable fit.
- First Wear: Wear them around the house for a short period to allow the natural rubber to soften and conform slightly to your foot shape.
Compatibility
These boots are highly versatile:
- Weather: Designed for wet weather conditions, including rain and muddy terrain. Not insulated for extreme cold.
- Outfits: Their classic Chelsea style and matte navy finish complement a wide range of casual and smart-casual attire. Pair them with skinny jeans, leggings, trousers, skirts, or dresses.
- Sizing: True to size for a standard fit. If you plan to wear thick socks, consider sizing up.
Care & Maintenance
To ensure your Hunter Original Chelsea Boots last and maintain their aesthetic:
- Cleaning:
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth immediately after use to remove dirt, mud, and external residue.
- For persistent marks, use mild soap and water. Avoid harsh detergents or solvents.
- Allow boots to air dry naturally, away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources.
- Matte Finish Care: Hunter recommends a specialized rubber buffer spray to restore the matte finish and prevent "blooming" (a white powdery film which is a natural occurrence in high quality rubber).
- Storage:
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can degrade the natural rubber over time.
- Keep them upright to prevent creasing or deformation.
- Avoid:
- Folding or creasing the boots for extended periods.
- Leaving them in direct sunlight or near strong heat sources (e.g., radiators, fireplaces) as this can dry out and crack the rubber.
- Using silicone-based sprays or polishes not specifically designed for natural rubber.
