FAQs

Can I apply Everbuild Evercryl One Coat in the rain?

Yes, it is designed to be applied in wet conditions. However, try to remove standing water if possible before application for best results.

What is the lowest temperature I can apply this product?

The product can be applied in temperatures down to -5°C (23°F), making it suitable for use in frosty conditions.

How long does it take to dry?

Drying times vary depending on temperature and humidity. It can become rain-resistant within a few hours, but full cure will take longer, especially in cold weather.

Can this be used for large holes in the roof?

Evercryl One Coat is best suited for sealing cracks and general repairs. For large holes, you may need to use a reinforcing membrane in conjunction with the compound or consider a more heavy-duty repair system.

Do I need a primer before using this product?

No, the product is designed to provide primerless adhesion to most common bituminous and non-porous surfaces.

What surfaces is it compatible with?

It is effective on bitumen, felt, asphalt, corrugated iron, metal, concrete, and asbestos cement surfaces.

How do I clean my tools after use?

Tools should be cleaned immediately after use with white spirit.

Troubleshooting

Product is difficult to spread

Ensure the product is at a suitable ambient temperature. If too cold, allow the tin to warm up to around 5-10°C before opening and applying. Stir thoroughly.

Poor adhesion to the surface

Verify the surface was clean and free from dust, grease, or loose material. For very non-porous surfaces, a primer might be beneficial if adhesion issues persist, although it's designed for primerless application.

Repair seems to be washing away

Ensure a sufficient thickness was applied and the edges were well-sealed onto the surrounding substrate. Allow adequate curing time, especially in cold or damp conditions, before heavy rain.

Product not fully curing

Curing is temperature and humidity dependent. In very cold or damp conditions, curing will take longer. Ensure ventilation if applying in an enclosed space, but avoid direct drafts.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Effective in wet and frosty conditions.
  • Single coat application saves time.
  • Bridges small cracks due to fibre reinforcement.
  • Primerless adhesion simplifies the process.
  • Suitable for a variety of roofing surfaces.

Cons

  • Primarily for general sealing and repair, not extensive structural damage.
  • May require multiple coats for very porous surfaces.
  • Not suitable for use on insulation boards without appropriate preparation.
  • Drying time can be affected by temperature and humidity.
  • Specific color availability may vary.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry (where possible), and free from loose debris. For non-porous surfaces, a quick wipe may be sufficient. Remove any moss or lichen before application.

Application: Apply using a stiff brush in a single, continuous coat. Work the compound well into any cracks or imperfections. Ensure edges are feathered out to promote adhesion. Overlap onto adjacent surfaces by at least 50mm.

Compatibility: This product adheres well to most common roofing surfaces including bitumen, felt, asphalt, corrugated iron, metal, concrete, and asbestos cement. It is not recommended for direct application onto insulation boards without a suitable primer.

Care: Store tins in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost. Once opened, use the product within the recommended timeframe as specified on the packaging to maintain its performance. Clean tools immediately after use with white spirit.
