Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The Althorpe Wing Back Recliner Chair typically requires minimal assembly. Most often, this involves attaching the dark wooden legs to the main body of the chair. Detailed instructions and any necessary tools are usually included in the packaging. It is recommended to perform assembly on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratching the chair's upholstery or frame.
Compatibility
- Space: Due to its recline function, ensure you have approximately 20-30 cm of clear space behind the chair to allow for full extension. Measure your intended area to confirm it accommodates the chair's dimensions (Height: 105cm, Width: 78cm, Depth: 82cm) in both upright and reclined positions.
- Aesthetic: The classic wingback design, stud detailing, and velvet upholstery lend themselves well to traditional, transitional, and even some modern classic interior styles. The grey velvet offers a neutral yet luxurious appeal.
Care
Velvet Upholstery Care:
- Regular Cleaning: Gently vacuum the velvet upholstery weekly using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and prevent dirt build-up. Always vacuum in the direction of the pile to maintain its sheen.
- Spot Cleaning: For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry, white cloth. Avoid rubbing, as this can push the stain deeper and damage the pile. For tougher stains, use a specialist velvet cleaner or a mild soap solution, testing first on an inconspicuous area. Allow to air dry completely.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause velvet to fade. Position the chair away from windows or use curtains/blinds to protect it.
- Professional Cleaning: For deep cleaning or stubborn stains, consider professional upholstery cleaning to preserve the fabric's integrity.
