Bosch PointTeQ HSS Metal Drill Bit - 6mm

This drill bit is suitable for alloyed and non-alloyed steel, non-ferrous metals, cast steel, cast iron, and plastics. It is also effective for wood, though optimized for metal.

The PointTeQ tip is self-centering, which allows for quick and accurate starting without the bit wandering. It also contributes to faster drilling speeds and reduced heat buildup.

This drill bit has a cylindrical shank, designed for compatibility with standard three-jaw drill chucks.

While it can be used in a hammer drill, it is recommended to use it in standard rotary drilling mode, especially when drilling metal, to prevent damage to the bit or the material.

Clean the bit after each use to remove debris. Store in a dry place. Applying a cutting fluid or oil, especially for harder metals, can extend its lifespan and improve performance.

Yes, the self-centering PointTeQ tip makes it excellent for accurately starting pilot holes, which is crucial before driving screws or tapping threads.

The black-oxide coating on the flute helps to improve chip removal, preventing clogging and ensuring more efficient drilling performance.

Ensure the PointTeQ tip is firmly engaged with the material. For extremely hard surfaces, consider using a center punch to create a small starting divot.

Check for proper drill speed. Ensure the flutes are clear of debris. Apply a suitable cutting fluid or oil. Verify the material being drilled is within the bit's intended use range.

Make sure the drill chuck is clean and the bit is inserted straight and tightened securely. The PointTeQ tip is designed for self-centering, but proper insertion is key.

Reduce drilling pressure and ensure the drill is operating at an appropriate speed for the material. Avoid excessive heat buildup by clearing chips frequently and using lubrication.
