Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting started with your De'Longhi Icona Capitals Electric Kettle is straightforward, and proper care will ensure its longevity and optimal performance.
Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials from the kettle and its base.
- Initial Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth.
- First Use: Before using for the first time, fill the kettle with fresh water up to the maximum level. Bring the water to a boil, then discard it. Repeat this process at least twice to ensure any manufacturing residues are removed.
- Placement: Place the power base on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface near a power outlet.
Compatibility
- This kettle is designed for use with standard household electrical outlets. Ensure your local voltage and frequency match the specifications listed on the appliance.
Care & Maintenance
- Exterior Cleaning: Regularly wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads as they can damage the glossy finish.
- Limescale Filter: The removable limescale filter should be cleaned regularly, especially in hard water areas. Remove the filter and rinse it under running water. For stubborn deposits, soak it in a descaling solution recommended for kitchen appliances.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle, affecting performance. Descale your kettle regularly using a commercially available descaling solution suitable for kettles, following the product's instructions. Alternatively, a solution of white vinegar and water can be used (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water), boiled, left to stand, then rinsed thoroughly.
- Storage: When not in use, ensure the kettle is empty and clean. You can wrap the excess cord underneath the base for tidy storage.
