The Barbour Beadnell Wax Jacket is an essential outerwear piece for adults seeking a blend of heritage style and functional weather protection. Designed for those who appreciate classic British craftsmanship, this jacket offers superior durability against the elements through its medium-weight Thornproof waxed cotton construction and signature tartan lining. While it provides excellent wind and water resistance, potential owners should note that the waxed cotton requires periodic maintenance to preserve its performance and weather-proof qualities over time.

No, you must never machine wash or dry clean a wax jacket, as it will destroy the wax coating and the performance of the fabric.
Frequency depends on usage, but typically once every year or two for jackets worn regularly to ensure they remain water-resistant.
It is highly water-resistant due to the Thornproof waxed cotton, which is ideal for light rain, but it is not intended to be fully waterproof like technical mountaineering gear.
The standard Beadnell model typically does not include a hood, but they are often sold separately as compatible accessories.
Store in a cool, dry place on a sturdy hanger to help it maintain its shape, and avoid storing it in plastic garment bags.
This is normal for waxed cotton; apply a layer of Barbour reproofing wax to restore its water-repellent finish.
Allow the mud to dry naturally and brush it off; if necessary, wipe gently with a cold, damp cloth.
This jacket requires no formal setup upon arrival. To ensure longevity, avoid dry cleaning or machine washing the wax finish, as this will strip the protective layer. Instead, clean the exterior surface by gently sponging it down with cold water. Should the jacket lose its water-repellent properties, you can apply a professional-grade Barbour wax treatment. For compatibility, the jacket is designed as a standalone piece, though its classic cut allows for comfortable layering with sweaters or base layers during colder months.
