FAQs

Are these shoes waterproof?

The trainers feature the Defender Repellent System to resist spills and stains, but they are not fully waterproof boots.

Can I use these for long hikes?

They are designed for light trails and mixed-terrain use. While they offer excellent cushioning, they are not intended for extreme mountaineering.

How should I clean the recycled fabric lining?

Use a damp cloth with mild soap to spot-clean the interior lining, then allow to air dry away from heat sources.

Does the leather require a special conditioner?

Using a high-quality leather conditioner occasionally will help keep the leather supple and prevent cracking.

What is the primary material in the sole?

The outsole is made of rubber for durability and traction, paired with a compression-moulded EVA midsole for comfort.

Troubleshooting

Shoes feel too tight initially

The premium leather will stretch and mold to your foot over time. Ensure you are wearing appropriate socks and use the lace hooks to adjust tension.

Stains appear on the leather

Use a specialized leather cleaner and a soft cloth to gently lift the stain. Avoid harsh chemicals that may strip the Defender Repellent treatment.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent durability from premium leather
Effective stain and spill resistance
High-traction outsole for varied terrain
Sustainable design elements including recycled materials
Reliable comfort for long-distance wear

Cons

Leather requires specific cleaning techniques
Heavier than synthetic mesh trainers
Requires a brief break-in period for the leather upper

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your Field Trekker Trainers maintain their performance, follow these guidelines:

Break-in: As these are premium leather, wear them for shorter periods during the first week to allow the leather to conform to your foot shape.
Lacing: Utilize the top lace hooks to secure a 'dialled-in' fit, which provides extra ankle support during more demanding activities.
Cleaning: Clean the leather upper using a dedicated leather cleaner. Do not machine wash. Use a soft brush to remove dried mud from the lug outsole.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the leather from drying out or cracking.
