Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using your adidas Sambae trainers is straightforward:
- Lace Up: Unlace the shoes sufficiently to easily slide your foot in.
- Adjust Fit: Once your foot is in, tighten the laces to achieve a comfortable, secure fit. Ensure they are snug but not too tight.
- Break-in Period: Like most leather footwear, a short break-in period may be beneficial for optimal comfort as the materials conform to your foot shape.
Compatibility
The Sambae trainers are highly versatile and compatible with a wide array of wardrobe choices:
- Apparel: Jeans, chinos, skirts, dresses, shorts, and casual trousers.
- Occasions: Ideal for casual outings, daily wear, urban exploring, social events, and relaxed work environments.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your Sambae trainers:
- Cleaning the Leather/Nubuck Upper:
- Gently brush off any loose dirt with a soft brush (e.g., a shoe brush or old toothbrush).
- For general cleaning, use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap or a specialized leather cleaner. Test on an inconspicuous area first.
- Wipe the surface gently in small sections.
- Wipe off any soap residue with a clean, damp cloth.
- Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight.
- For nubuck, consider using a nubuck brush after drying to restore the texture.
- Cleaning the Gum Outsole:
- Use a mild soap solution and a brush (like an old toothbrush) to scrub away dirt and grime from the sole.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place, ideally with shoe trees to help maintain their shape. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
- Protection: Consider applying a waterproof and stain-resistant spray suitable for leather and nubuck to protect them from the elements and spills.
