FAQs
Are the Adidas Handball Spezial trainers suitable for intense sports?
While originally designed as indoor-sport shoes in the 1970s, they are now optimized for lifestyle and everyday wear rather than high-intensity competitive athletics.
Do these shoes run true to size?
The Handball Spezial generally follows standard adult sizing. It is recommended to choose your usual size, though individual fit may vary based on foot width.
Can I wash the Handball Spezial in a washing machine?
No. Machine washing can ruin the suede material and compromise the integrity of the adhesive used in the sole construction.
What is the primary material used in the upper?
The primary material is suede, which provides a soft, matte finish and a durable, flexible structure.
Is the insole removable?
The sneakers feature a standard fabric insole. For most users, this provides sufficient comfort, though it can be replaced with custom orthotics if necessary.
Troubleshooting
Suede appears matted or dusty
Use a soft-bristled suede brush to gently stroke the material in one direction to lift the nap and remove surface dust.
Scuff marks on the gum sole
Use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soapy water to gently wipe the rubber edges, then dry immediately with a clean towel.
Persistent stains on suede
Consult a professional suede cleaning kit or a shoe repair specialist to avoid damaging the delicate material with household cleaners.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Handball Spezial trainers stay in top condition, follow these care guidelines.
- Initial Protection: Apply a suede-specific water and stain repellent spray before first use to create a protective barrier against the elements.
- Cleaning: Use a specialized suede brush to remove loose dirt and restore the texture of the material. Avoid saturating the suede with water.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading and leather drying.
- Compatibility: These trainers feature a standard adult fit. If you are between sizes, consider trying them on with the specific socks you intend to wear to ensure an optimal fit.
