This Lyle & Scott Mesh-Back Softshell Jacket in Black (XXL) is designed for adult males seeking versatile protection during changeable weather. Its key benefit is balancing weather resistance with enhanced breathability, making it ideal for everyday wear and light activity. This jacket is best suited for mild, changeable weather conditions. It provides protection against light wind and rain and is designed for breathability, making it ideal for transitional seasons like spring and autumn.
The jacket offers water resistance, meaning it can handle light rain or drizzle. It is not fully waterproof and may not be suitable for prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
Machine wash cold with like colours using a mild detergent. Avoid bleach. Tumble dry on a low setting or hang dry. Iron on a cool setting if necessary, but avoid the embroidered logo. Do not dry clean.
While you can layer this jacket over warmer clothing, it is not designed as a primary winter jacket. Its strength lies in its breathability and protection against moderate conditions. For very cold weather, consider adding heavier insulation underneath or opting for a dedicated winter coat.
The mesh-back design incorporates a breathable mesh material in the back panel of the jacket. This significantly improves airflow, helping to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating during physical activity or in warmer conditions.
The jacket has a regular fit, which is designed to be comfortable and allow for easy layering over other garments without feeling too tight or restrictive.
Based on the provided description, there is no mention of a hood. This is a softshell jacket designed with a focus on clean lines and everyday wear.
Ensure you are wearing appropriate layers underneath. The regular fit is designed for easy layering. Avoid overly thick layers that may impede movement.
Check that the mesh-back panel is not obstructed. Ensure the jacket is clean, as dirt and debris can clog the mesh and fabric pores.
Avoid using fabric softeners, as they can degrade the softshell material and reduce its performance. Opt for air drying or a low tumble dry setting.
Ensure the fabric around the zipper is clear and not caught. Gently move the zipper up and down. A small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the zipper teeth if needed.
This jacket requires no setup upon purchase; it is ready to wear. It is compatible with most casual wear, including t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and light sweaters.
