Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using your Regatta Birchdale II Waterproof Jacket is straightforward. Simply layer it over your base and mid-layers, adjusting the cuffs and hood (if applicable) for a secure fit that keeps out the elements. Ensure any zips are fully closed to maximize protection.
Compatibility
This jacket is designed for compatibility with a wide range of outdoor activities for adult women, including:
- Hiking and trekking
- Dog walking
- Forest walks and trail exploration
- General everyday wear in wet or windy conditions
It functions best as an outer shell, meant to be worn over insulating layers in colder weather or directly over a base layer in milder conditions.
Care Instructions
Proper care is vital to maintain the waterproof and breathable properties of your jacket. Always refer to the specific care label inside the garment for the most accurate instructions. Generally, follow these guidelines:
- Preparation: Close all zippers and fasteners before washing.
- Washing: Machine wash cold (30°C / 86°F) on a gentle cycle. Use a technical wash specifically designed for waterproof and breathable garments. Avoid conventional detergents, fabric softeners, and bleach, as these can compromise the waterproof membrane and DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish.
- Rinsing: Ensure the jacket is thoroughly rinsed to remove all detergent residue.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting or air dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Low heat tumble drying can help reactivate the DWR finish.
- Re-proofing: Over time, the DWR finish may wear off. If water no longer beads up on the fabric surface, you may need to re-apply a DWR treatment using a spray-on or wash-in product designed for waterproof outerwear.
