Product Information

Full details

The MAC Lustreglass Stainglass Lip Tint is designed for makeup enthusiasts seeking a versatile, long-wearing lip product that balances vibrant pigment with lasting moisture. Its primary benefit is providing a 12-hour stain that maintains a high-shine, glass-like finish, making it perfect for both low-key daily wear and layered, bold looks. A notable caveat is that while the formula is long-lasting, the initial juicy shine will naturally fade faster than the underlying stain, requiring occasional reapplications if you wish to maintain the high-gloss aesthetic throughout the day.

FAQs

Does this product dry out the lips?

No, the formula is enriched with raspberry seed oil and squalane to maintain hydration throughout the 12-hour wear time.

Can I wear a lip balm over this?

Yes, once the stain has fully set, you can apply a clear balm or gloss over it, though it may reduce the longevity of the initial glossy finish.

Is the formula sticky?

The formula is designed to be lightweight and comfortable, avoiding the traditional tackiness of high-shine lip glosses.

How do I build up the color intensity?

Simply wait for the first layer to settle for about 30 seconds, then apply a second or third layer to achieve your desired level of saturation.

Will the stain transfer to cups or masks?

Once set, the stain is highly transfer-resistant, making it a great choice for long periods of wear.

Troubleshooting

Color appears uneven or patchy

Ensure lips are exfoliated before use, as dry skin can absorb the stain inconsistently.

Applicator feels dry or clogged

Gently wipe the cushion applicator with a clean, dry tissue to remove any residue and re-dip into the tube to re-saturate.

Difficult to remove completely

Use an oil-based cleanser or a dedicated bi-phase eye and lip makeup remover to dissolve the long-wear pigments.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Provides a long-lasting stain that stays true for up to 12 hours
Lightweight formula feels comfortable and non-sticky
Hydrating ingredients prevent the lips from feeling dry
Buildable color intensity for versatile styling
Easy-to-use cushion applicator for precise application

Cons

High-shine finish wears off before the color stain
Requires layering to achieve a truly opaque, intense look
May stain the skin if not applied carefully

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the best performance from your lip tint, follow these simple care guidelines:

Preparation: For the most even stain, ensure your lips are exfoliated and free of heavy balms before the first application.
Application: Use the cushion tip to trace the outline of your lips first, then fill in the center. Avoid rubbing your lips together immediately to allow the stain to set.
Storage: Keep the product at room temperature and ensure the cap is tightened securely to prevent the applicator from drying out.
Removal: Because the product is designed for long-wear, use an oil-based makeup remover or micellar water to break down the pigment effectively at the end of the day.
