The Smith Rattan Round Bread Proofing Basket is an essential tool for home bakers looking to achieve professional, bakery-quality bread shapes and textures. Designed for proofing artisanal sourdough and yeast loaves, this lightweight and sustainable rattan basket provides excellent structure during the final rise, though users should note it is strictly for proofing and should never be placed inside a hot oven.

No, this basket is for proofing only. Placing it in the oven will damage the natural rattan material.
Rice flour is highly recommended as it is gluten-free and does not absorb moisture, making it less likely to cause sticking.
Use a dry bristle brush to remove dried flour. Do not submerge the rattan in water.
It is designed for standard round boules, typically accommodating 500g to 800g of dough.
You can, but the liner is recommended for easier release and to achieve a smooth finish on the bread surface.
Ensure the liner is adequately dusted with flour before inserting the dough.
The basket was not fully dry before storage. Clean with a soft brush and leave in direct sunlight or a warm, ventilated area to dry completely.
Setting up the basket is simple: place the provided liner inside the basket, ensuring it is flush against the rattan walls. Before each use, dust the liner with rice flour or all-purpose flour to create a non-stick barrier. After baking, remove the liner and brush away any excess flour from the basket. Allow the rattan basket to air dry completely in a well-ventilated area to prevent moisture buildup or mold. The fabric liner can be hand-washed with mild soap and cold water as needed. Always store the basket in a cool, dry place when not in use.
