FAQs

Is this reel suitable for saltwater fishing?

While it can be used in saltwater, it is primarily designed for general predator fishing. Ensure you rinse it thoroughly with fresh water after every saltwater trip to prevent damage.

Does it come with line?

No, the Zebco Demonic 150 LHW does not include fishing line or braid.

What does LHW stand for?

LHW stands for Left-Hand Wind, meaning the handle is positioned on the left side of the reel.

Can I use this for light finesse fishing?

Yes, its lightweight frame and smooth bearings make it suitable for a variety of medium-light applications.

How do I adjust the drag?

The star-shaped drag adjustment knob is located behind the reel handle. Turn it clockwise to increase drag tension and counter-clockwise to decrease it.

Troubleshooting

Frequent line backlashes

Increase the braking setting or tighten the mechanical spool tension knob slightly.

Rough or noisy retrieve

Ensure the level-wind mechanism is clean and apply a small amount of reel grease or oil.

Drag feels inconsistent

Clean the drag washers if they have been exposed to dirt and ensure the drag nut is tightened securely.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extremely lightweight design at only 155g
Fast 7.1:1 gear ratio for efficient lure retrieval
Smooth operation via 5+1 ball bearing system
Includes backlash prevention to aid casting precision

Cons

Fishing line or braid is not included
Left-Hand Wind (LHW) configuration only
Graphite construction requires careful handling to avoid heavy impacts

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up the Zebco Demonic 150 LHW, begin by mounting the reel securely to your baitcasting rod's reel seat. Because no line is included, select a high-quality braided or monofilament line appropriate for your target species and spool it carefully under tension.

Calibration Steps:

Adjust the mechanical spool tension knob until your lure drops slowly when the spool is released.
Set the braking system according to your experience level and current wind conditions.
Test cast into an open area before targeting specific structures to ensure the brake settings are optimal.

Care Instructions:

Rinse the reel lightly with fresh water after fishing in saltwater environments to prevent corrosion.
Periodically wipe the frame with a clean, dry cloth.
Apply a drop of light reel oil to the handle knobs and the level-wind worm gear every few months to maintain smooth operation.
