FAQs

What does 90 GSM mean?

GSM stands for 'Grams per Square Meter'. A 90 GSM rating indicates the density and weight of the material, suggesting a lightweight yet durable fabric suitable for light to medium-duty protection.

What is the significance of the +/- 10% size variation?

The stated size is the 'cut size' of the material before any finishing processes. The final, finished product may be up to 10% smaller in either dimension due to seams and hems, offering flexibility in application.

Can this tarpaulin be used as a permanent cover?

While durable, this tarpaulin is best suited for temporary or semi-permanent outdoor protection. For permanent installations, consider materials specifically designed for long-term weather exposure.

How often should I check the tie-down points?

It is recommended to check the tension and integrity of the tie-down points regularly, especially after strong winds or heavy rain, to ensure the tarp remains secure.

Is this tarpaulin suitable for covering food or animal feed?

This tarpaulin is designed for general outdoor protection. It is not certified as food-grade or safe for direct contact with consumable items. Use appropriate food-safe coverings for such purposes.

Can the white color be easily cleaned?

Yes, the white color can be cleaned with mild soap and water. However, it may show dirt and stains more readily than darker colors, requiring more frequent cleaning for aesthetic purposes.

Troubleshooting

Water pooling on the surface

Ensure the tarpaulin is stretched taut and secured properly, with a slight slope to allow water to run off.

Grommets seem loose

Check if the rope or tie-down is excessively tight, which can put undue stress on the grommet. Re-secure with appropriate tension.

Tarp has a small tear

For minor tears, consider using a compatible tarp repair kit or strong waterproof tape. For significant damage, replacement may be necessary.

Visible mould or mildew

Clean the affected area thoroughly with a mild soap and water solution. Ensure the tarp is completely dry before storing.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable and long-lasting construction from premium polyethylene.
Offers effective waterproof and UV resistance for all-weather protection.
Reinforced edges and sturdy grommets ensure secure fastening.
Lightweight yet tear-resistant material is easy to handle.
Mould-proof coating extends usability in damp conditions.

Cons

Finished product size may vary by +/- 10% from the stated cut size.
90 GSM might be insufficient for extremely heavy-duty, long-term applications.
Grommet spacing of one meter may require additional tie-down points for very large or windy areas.
White color may show dirt more readily than darker options.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: Unfold the tarpaulin and lay it flat. Use the reinforced aluminum grommets with ropes, bungee cords, or tie-downs to secure it to anchor points. Ensure the tarp is taut to prevent water pooling.

Compatibility: This tarpaulin is compatible with standard tie-down accessories. It can be used with various outdoor items such as furniture, vehicles, camping gear, firewood stacks, and construction materials.

Care: Clean the tarpaulin with a mild soap and water solution using a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the PE coating. Allow the tarp to dry completely before storing to prevent mould growth. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
