Product Information

Full details

The Domke 19-inch Protective Wrap is an essential accessory for photographers and videographers who need to safely transport delicate lenses, camera bodies, and accessories in non-dedicated camera bags. Its primary benefit is the ability to provide flexible, cushioned protection that conforms to the shape of any item; however, note that it offers protection against surface scratches and minor impacts rather than heavy-duty, crush-proof security.

FAQs

Is this wrap waterproof?

No, the Domke Protective Wrap is designed for scratch and impact protection and is not water-resistant or waterproof.

Can I use this for non-photography items?

Yes, it is excellent for protecting other sensitive electronics like handheld gaming consoles or small tablets.

How do I wash the wrap?

We recommend hand washing with mild soap and air drying to ensure the fasteners and padding remain in optimal condition.

Does the red color transfer to gear?

The fabric is colorfast under normal conditions, though it is always best to ensure the wrap is dry before applying it to equipment.

Is the 19-inch size sufficient for a 70-200mm lens?

The 19-inch size is usually sufficient for most standard to medium-telephoto lenses, though very long lenses may require a larger wrap.

Troubleshooting

Touch fasteners are losing their grip

Use a small brush or a piece of tape to remove lint, hair, or dust from the hook-and-loop sections.

Wrap feels thin or insufficient for larger lenses

Consider using two wraps for larger items or layering the wrap over a soft microfiber cloth for added thickness.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Flexible design conforms to various gear shapes
High-visibility red color prevents misplacing gear
Effective protection against surface-level scratches
Compact and lightweight for travel efficiency
Easy to secure with corner touch fasteners

Cons

Not suitable for protection against heavy drops or crushing
Material may attract lint over time
Lacks rigid reinforcement for structural support

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To use the wrap, place your camera equipment in the center of the fabric. Fold one corner over the top of the gear, followed by the remaining sides, and press the touch fasteners firmly together to seal. This product is compatible with a wide range of optics, bodies, and portable electronics. To maintain the integrity of the wrap, hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent and air dry to keep the padding loft and touch fasteners clean and functioning properly.
