Product Information

Full details

The Roland RH-5 headphones are designed for musicians and audio enthusiasts seeking clear, accurate sound reproduction for electronic instruments and general audio playback. Their key benefit lies in the high-performance 40mm drivers and balanced frequency response, ensuring a natural listening experience. A potential caveat for some users might be the passive noise cancellation, which is effective but not as isolating as active noise-cancelling models. These closed-type, dynamic headphones offer a comfortable fit and reliable performance for practice and studio work.

FAQs

Are the Roland RH-5 headphones suitable for gaming?

While the RH-5 headphones offer excellent audio clarity, they are primarily designed for musical instrument monitoring and audio playback. They lack a microphone, so they are not ideal for gaming communication. Their sound profile is optimized for music, which may differ from what gamers prefer for immersive sound effects.

What is the difference between closed-back and open-back headphones?

Closed-back headphones, like the RH-5, have a sealed earcup design that isolates sound, preventing audio leakage and reducing external noise. Open-back headphones have vents that allow air and sound to pass through, often resulting in a more natural and spacious soundstage but with less noise isolation.

Can I use these headphones with my smartphone?

Yes, you can use the Roland RH-5 headphones with most smartphones. They come with a standard 3.5mm stereo mini plug that fits directly into the headphone jack found on many smartphones and mobile devices.

Is the headphone cable detachable?

No, the 3-meter audio cable on the Roland RH-5 headphones is fixed and not detachable.

What is the impedance of the Roland RH-5 headphones?

The impedance of the Roland RH-5 headphones is 32 ohms (Ω).

Do these headphones have active noise cancellation?

No, the Roland RH-5 headphones feature passive noise isolation provided by their closed-back design. They do not have active noise cancellation technology.

How do I clean the Roland RH-5 headphones?

To clean the headphones, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the earcups and headband. Avoid using liquids or harsh cleaning agents, as these can damage the materials. Ensure the headphones are completely dry before use.

Troubleshooting

No sound or low volume.

Ensure the headphone plug is fully inserted into the output jack. Check that the volume is turned up on both the headphones' source device and, if applicable, any in-line volume controls. Verify the correct adapter (3.5mm or 6.3mm) is being used and is securely attached.

Sound is distorted or unclear.

Lower the volume on the source device, as high volumes can cause distortion. Ensure the headphone cable is not damaged. Try connecting to a different audio source to rule out issues with the original device.

Left or right channel is not working.

Check the balance settings on your audio source device. Gently wiggle the headphone plug at the jack to ensure a solid connection. If the issue persists, the cable or driver may be damaged, and professional inspection might be needed.

Earcups feel uncomfortable after extended use.

Adjust the headband for a looser fit. Take regular breaks from wearing the headphones. Ensure the earcups are positioned correctly over your ears.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent sound quality with balanced frequency response.
Comfortable for long listening sessions due to lightweight design.
Good passive noise isolation for focused listening.
Includes a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter for broad compatibility.
Durable construction suitable for regular use.

Cons

Passive noise cancellation may not be sufficient for extremely noisy environments.
The 3-meter cable is fixed and not detachable.
May lack the deep bass emphasis some listeners prefer for casual music genres.
Open-back designs might offer a wider soundstage for some.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Connect the 3.5mm stereo mini plug to the headphone output of your electronic musical instrument, audio interface, or computer.
If your device has a 6.3mm (1/4 inch) headphone jack, use the included adapter plug by screwing it onto the 3.5mm plug.
Ensure the volume on your source device is at a moderate level before putting on the headphones to protect your hearing.

Compatibility:

The RH-5 headphones are compatible with any device featuring a standard 3.5mm headphone jack or a 6.3mm (1/4 inch) headphone jack, thanks to the included adapter. This includes most digital pianos, electronic drum kits, audio interfaces, mixers, smartphones, tablets, and computers.

Care:

Wipe the earcups and headband with a soft, dry cloth after use.
Avoid exposing the headphones to moisture or extreme temperatures.
Store the headphones in a safe place when not in use to prevent damage to the drivers or cable.
Do not pull on the cable to disconnect; grip the plug firmly.
