Product Information

Full details

The Smartwool Ski Targeted Cushion Summit Shot OTC Socks are designed for adult skiers who require a balance of warmth, moisture management, and durability during long days on the mountain. By utilizing high-quality Merino wool and specialized knitting technologies, these socks provide targeted support in high-impact areas, though the heavy cushioning may feel too thick for skiers who prefer a very tight or race-fit boot.

FAQs

Are these socks suitable for temperatures below freezing?

Yes, the 58% Merino wool content provides excellent natural thermal regulation for cold weather skiing.

Do these socks help prevent blisters?

Yes, the combination of the Virtually Seamless toe and the 4 Degree Elite Fit system helps reduce friction in sensitive areas.

Can I put these in the dryer?

Yes, you can tumble dry them on a low heat setting, though air drying is always gentler on the fibers.

What does 'Targeted Cushion' mean?

It means the cushioning is placed specifically in high-impact zones, such as the shin and under the foot, rather than being padded everywhere.

Is this sock gender-specific?

This specific model is designed for men, featuring a fit profile tailored for the average male foot anatomy.

Troubleshooting

Sock feels too tight in the ski boot

The targeted cushioning adds volume. Ensure your boot buckles are adjusted correctly for the thickness of these socks, or consider a thinner sock if the fit remains restrictive.

Sock is sliding down inside the boot

Ensure the 4 Degree Elite Fit arch band is correctly positioned on your foot and that the sock is pulled up fully before sliding your foot into the boot liner.

Pros and Cons

Pros

High durability in impact-heavy zones
Excellent moisture management thanks to Merino wool blend
Anatomical fit prevents bunching or slipping
Reduced risk of blisters due to seamless toe construction

Cons

Targeted cushioning adds thickness which may impact boot fit
Requires careful washing to maintain material integrity
Not suitable for those who prefer ultralight, non-cushioned socks

Setup, Compatibility & Care

For the best performance, ensure the sock is pulled taut to allow the 4 Degree Elite Fit system to align with your arch and heel. Because these are over-the-calf (OTC) socks, they are designed to sit just below the knee, providing a clean interface with your base layers.
