FAQs
Is the Abus StormChaser suitable for everyday commuting?
While the helmet offers excellent protection and comfort, its design is optimized for performance cycling disciplines like road racing, crits, and cyclocross. It can be used for commuting, but its advanced features are most beneficial in these specific contexts.
How do I clean the ActiCage™ reinforcement?
The ActiCage™ is integrated into the helmet shell and does not require separate cleaning. Clean the exterior of the helmet with a damp cloth. Ensure the padding is clean as per care instructions.
What makes the ventilation 'optimized'?
The helmet uses a combination of a floating pad system and strategically placed vents to create maximum airflow, efficiently drawing cool air in and expelling hot air, thereby enhancing rider comfort during exertion.
Can I wear a skullcap or beanie under the helmet in cold weather?
Due to the helmet's snug, performance-oriented fit and optimized ventilation, wearing a thick skullcap or beanie underneath may compromise the fit and effectiveness of the ventilation system. A very thin balaclava might be compatible.
How does the ponytail-friendly fit work?
The rear adjustment system is designed with a larger opening and specific shape to accommodate various long hairstyles like ponytails, buns, or braids without causing discomfort or affecting the helmet's stability.
What is the main advantage of the ActiCage™?
The ActiCage™ provides structural reinforcement within the helmet, allowing for larger ventilation openings without sacrificing stability or impact protection, thus combining safety and comfort.
Troubleshooting
Helmet feels too tight or loose
Adjust the Zoom™ Spin Adjustment dial for a more precise fit. Ensure the straps are positioned correctly.
Straps are uncomfortable
Readjust the strap dividers and chin buckle. Ensure the stitched straps lie flat against the head.
Padding feels uncomfortable or doesn't fit well
Ensure the padding is correctly installed and dry. If issues persist, consider if the padding requires cleaning or replacement.
Glasses don't fit securely in the front port
Experiment with different angles and positions of your eyewear in the port. Ensure the helmet fit is snug, which can help secure the glasses.
