FAQs

Does this helmet come with a visor?

No, the Uvex i-vo 3D is designed as an open-face helmet without a built-in visor.

Can I install my own light on this helmet?

The helmet is designed for an optional specific triangle plug-in LED light offered by Uvex.

How do I know which size to get?

The helmet is available in different size ranges (such as 52-57cm or 56-60cm). Measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows to find your size.

Is this suitable for aggressive downhill mountain biking?

While durable, this is an open-face, lightweight helmet; for high-speed, aggressive downhill riding, a full-face mountain bike helmet is generally recommended.

How often should I replace the helmet?

It is recommended to replace any helmet after a significant impact, even if there is no visible damage, as the EPS foam is designed to absorb shock by deforming.

Troubleshooting

Helmet feels unstable or shifts during riding

Re-adjust the IAS 3.0 rear dial to ensure a tighter fit and verify that the FAS webbing is properly positioned under the ears.

Difficulty opening the Monomatic buckle

Ensure the button mechanism is free from mud or debris; rinse with water and allow to dry if the button feels stuck.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Extremely lightweight at just 225 grams
  • Highly adjustable fit system for different head shapes
  • Excellent ventilation with 24 cooling channels
  • Easy one-handed chin strap operation

Cons

  • Lacks a dedicated visor for sun or debris protection
  • LED light must be purchased separately
  • Full-face classification in some specs might imply more coverage than a traditional open-face helmet provides

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To achieve the best fit, first place the helmet level on your head. Use the rear dial of the IAS 3.0 system to adjust the width and move the cradle up or down to find the correct height. Once the base fit is secure, adjust the FAS webbing sliders until the straps form a 'Y' shape just below your ears. The Monomatic buckle should be adjusted so the chin strap is snug but comfortable against the skin. For care, clean the helmet using only mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or solvents, which can damage the integrity of the EPS foam. Always store the helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
