FAQs

How do I print from my smartphone?

Make sure your mobile device and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Then, use the Brother iPrint&Scan app or your device's native printing capabilities (like AirPrint).

How often should I clean the print heads?

It is recommended to clean the print heads when print quality deteriorates, or when you haven't used the printer for a while. Regular cleaning helps prevent clogs.

What kind of paper can I use?

The MFC-J5955DW supports a variety of paper types, including plain paper, glossy paper, recycled paper, and envelopes. Always refer to the printer's manual for specific paper weight and size compatibility.

How do I scan to email?

Set up your email settings within the printer's control panel. You will need to provide your email account details (username, password, and SMTP server information) for successful scanning and emailing.

How do I know when to replace the ink cartridges?

The printer will display a message on the LCD screen, and on your computer, when an ink cartridge is low. You can also check ink levels through the printer's control panel or the printer software on your computer.

Can I fax with this printer?

Yes, the Brother MFC-J5955DW has fax capabilities. You can send and receive faxes via the phone line. Ensure the phone line is connected to the printer.

Troubleshooting

Printer not printing.

Check the power supply, ensure the printer is connected to the network, and verify that the correct printer is selected in the print settings. Also, check for paper jams and low ink levels.

Poor print quality.

Run the print head cleaning utility, align the print heads, and ensure you're using the correct paper type for your print job. Consider replacing the ink cartridges.

Paper jams frequently.

Make sure you load the paper correctly, and the paper is not wrinkled, bent, or damaged. Ensure you are using the correct type and size of paper. Check the paper feed rollers for any debris.

Unable to connect to Wi-Fi.

Make sure the printer is within range of the Wi-Fi router, and the correct network password is used. Restart the printer and router.
