Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are snug but not too tight. Use the lace closure system to customize the fit, providing ankle support without restricting circulation.
- Break-in Period: Like most hiking footwear, a short break-in period is recommended. Wear the shoes for shorter walks or errands before embarking on long hikes to allow them to conform to your foot shape.
Compatibility
- Socks: Pair these shoes with moisture-wicking hiking socks. Cotton socks retain moisture, which can negate the shoes' waterproof benefits and lead to discomfort or blisters.
- Terrain: Best suited for light to moderate hiking trails. While the Traxion outsole offers excellent grip, the shoes are not designed for extreme mountaineering or heavy backpacking over very rough, off-trail terrain.
Product Care
Proper care extends the life and maintains the performance of your RAIN.RDY shoes:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially if muddy, wipe down the shoes with a damp cloth or soft brush. For stubborn dirt, use mild soap and water. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing, as these can damage the waterproof membrane and materials.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Remove insoles to speed up drying. Do not place them near direct heat sources (like radiators or campfires), as this can damage the materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent odor and mildew.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Periodically, you might consider applying a waterproof treatment specifically designed for textile and synthetic footwear to enhance the outer layer's water repellency. This helps the RAIN.RDY technology function optimally by preventing saturation of the outer fabric.
