FAQs
Are the New Balance 950s machine washable?
No, you should not machine wash these trainers as the wool material may be damaged or shrunk by water and agitation.
Do these shoes fit true to size?
They feature a roomy toe box, which may feel slightly more spacious than performance athletic shoes, but generally run true to standard sizing.
Can these be worn for playing basketball?
While inspired by 1980s basketball heritage, the 950 is designed for lifestyle and casual wear rather than modern high-intensity court performance.
Is the wool material suitable for summer?
The wool used is designed for lifestyle wear; while breathable, it is generally better suited for mild to cool climates.
How do I remove water stains from wool?
Gently blot the area with a slightly damp cloth and allow it to air dry naturally in a shaded area.
Troubleshooting
Visible dirt on wool upper
Use a soft-bristled brush to gently lift dirt particles away from the wool fibers.
Creasing near the toe box
Use a shoe tree when the sneakers are not in use to help maintain the structure of the upper.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Versatile unisex design suitable for various outfits
- Roomy toe box improves comfort during long wear
- Unique material choice offers a sophisticated texture
- Timeless design inspired by basketball culture
Cons
- Wool material may be more sensitive to harsh weather than synthetic leather
- White colourway requires frequent cleaning to maintain brightness
- Limited to specific aesthetic preferences due to material choice
Setup, Compatibility & Care
- Compatibility: These are unisex trainers available in a wide range of UK adult sizes. Consult the sizing chart before purchase as the roomy toe box may cause the fit to feel more spacious than narrow-fit athletic shoes.
- Care Instructions: Due to the wool upper, avoid submerging these shoes in water. Use a soft brush to gently remove surface dust and debris. If spots occur, use a specialized wool cleaner or a very lightly dampened cloth, ensuring the material is dried away from direct heat sources to prevent shrinkage or warping.
