FAQs

What is an intermediate toggle switch used for?

An intermediate toggle switch is used in a lighting circuit when you need to control a light from three or more separate locations. It's wired between two standard 2-way switches.

Can this switch be used with LED lights?

Yes, the switch has a 20A rating and is suitable for controlling modern low-wattage LED circuits safely.

How do I clean the matt bronze finish?

Use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners to protect the unique hand-finished surface.

What does 'screwless design' mean?

The screwless design means that the visible faceplate of the switch has no visible mounting screws. It uses a clip-on system over an internal chassis for a clean, flush finish.

Is this switch unique?

Yes, each Eton Collection Bronze switch plate is individually hand-finished, leading to subtle variations in texture and color, making every piece unique.

What size back box do I need?

You will need a standard UK single-gang back box of appropriate depth to comfortably house the terminal wiring.

Where are these switches made?

The metal faceplates are hand-finished in Cornwall, UK.

Troubleshooting

Switch not controlling the light

Verify all wiring connections are secure and correctly installed according to the intermediate switch wiring diagram. Ensure the switch is correctly placed in the circuit between two 2-way switches.

Light flickers or is inconsistent

Check for loose connections at the switch terminals or other points in the circuit. Ensure the total load does not exceed the 20A rating of the switch and your wiring.

Finish appears uneven or has variations

This is an expected characteristic of the hand-finished process. Subtle variations in texture and color are intentional and contribute to the unique charm of each piece. If the variation is significant or appears damaged, contact customer support.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Installation requires a standard UK single-gang back box of adequate depth to accommodate the wiring. This switch is designed to be wired inline between two standard 2-way (single-pole, double-throw) switches to enable control from three or more locations. For specific wiring diagrams and configurations, consult a qualified electrician or contact the manufacturer.

Compatibility:

This switch is compatible with standard UK single-gang back boxes. It is rated for 20A and is suitable for controlling various lighting loads, including modern low-wattage LED circuits. Ensure your existing wiring and back box meet the necessary specifications for a 20A load and the required depth.

Care:

To maintain the finish, use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the hand-finished surface. The screwless design means the front plate can be gently removed for thorough cleaning if needed, revealing the internal chassis.
