FAQs

Is the hood removable?

No, the hood is a rollaway design, meaning it can be neatly tucked into the collar when not in use.

Can I wear this in winter?

Yes, but as it is a waterproof shell, you must wear a thermal layer or fleece underneath to provide warmth.

How do I wash the jacket?

Machine wash on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent or a dedicated technical gear cleaner. Avoid fabric softeners.

Does it have an internal pocket?

The RG Alpha 2.0 comes with two secure zippered hand pockets on the exterior.

What material is it made from?

The jacket is constructed from durable, high-performance polyester featuring Hydroshell technology.

Troubleshooting

Water appears to soak into the surface rather than beading off.

The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish may have worn off. Wash the jacket and re-apply a technical waterproofing spray meant for outdoor gear.

The jacket feels damp inside despite no rain leaks.

This is likely moisture buildup from perspiration. Ensure you are layering with breathable fabrics and adjust the ventilation by slightly unzipping the main zip.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent waterproof performance via Hydroshell fabric
Highly breathable for active outdoor pursuits
Includes essential adjustable features for a custom fit
Lightweight and packable for travel or storage
Secure pockets for safe item storage

Cons

Offers minimal thermal insulation on its own
Rollaway hood design may feel less substantial than fixed hoods
Polyester material requires specific care to maintain water repellency

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Because this is a shell jacket, it is highly compatible with modular layering systems. Wear a base layer for moisture management and a fleece or synthetic mid-layer underneath for warmth in colder weather. To maintain the jacket's waterproof properties, it is machine washable, but it is recommended to use specialized gear cleaners rather than standard heavy detergents to avoid stripping the protective finish. Always check the internal care label before washing, and avoid ironing or dry cleaning, as these can damage the technical fabric.
