FAQs

Are these shoes suitable for school sports?

Yes, they are excellent for general physical education and daily activities, though they are optimized for comfort and lightness rather than specialized competitive sports.

Can I replace the elastic laces with standard ones?

The Cloudleap is designed specifically for the elastic system. While it may be physically possible, it is not recommended as it may interfere with the intended fit.

How do I ensure I have the right size?

On footwear typically follows standard UK sizing. Ensure there is about a thumb's width of space between the longest toe and the front of the shoe.

Are the insoles removable?

Yes, the insoles are generally removable, allowing for custom orthotics if required.

Is the material waterproof?

The upper is made of breathable mesh to prioritize airflow, meaning it is not waterproof and may let water in during heavy rain.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty sliding foot into the shoe

Ensure the elastic laces are pulled slightly to widen the entry, and check that the tongue is pulled forward.

Shoe feels loose after long wear

The elastic laces may need minor repositioning; ensure they are evenly tightened across the top of the foot.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Lightweight construction prevents foot fatigue
Easy on-and-off design saves time for parents and kids
Breathable fabric keeps feet comfortable in warm weather
High-grip outsoles improve safety during active play

Cons

Limited to recreational use rather than high-intensity athletics
Mesh material may be more susceptible to stains than leather alternatives
Elastic laces offer less adjustability than traditional tie-up laces

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Because the shoe features an elastic lacing system, there is no formal setup required; simply slide the child's foot into the shoe. Ensure the heel is fully seated for maximum support. For care, it is recommended to spot-clean the mesh upper with a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid placing these shoes in a washing machine or dryer, as high heat and heavy agitation can damage the elastic components and the mesh structure. Allow the shoes to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators to maintain the shape and material integrity.
