Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Installation of an internal door slab typically requires careful measurement and fitting. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional or an experienced DIYer.
- Measure Accurately: Before purchase, measure your existing door frame's height, width, and thickness.
- Preparation: The door slab may require trimming to fit the frame perfectly. This should be done carefully to avoid damage. Cut edges should be sealed before finishing.
- Hinge & Hardware Installation: Mortise (rout out recesses for) hinges and latch mechanism into the door and frame. Ensure all hardware is securely fastened and aligned for smooth operation.
- Finishing: Before hanging, prepare the door surface by lightly sanding, then priming, and finally applying your chosen paint or varnish according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure all edges are sealed to protect against moisture.
Compatibility
This Unglazed Flush Internal Door is designed exclusively for internal residential use. It is compatible with standard internal door frames. Always verify the door's dimensions against your frame's dimensions for a proper fit. It is not suitable for exterior use or in areas with consistently high humidity unless specifically treated for such conditions.
Care
Once your door is installed and finished:
- Cleaning: Clean the door surface with a soft, damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive sponges that could damage the paint or varnish finish.
- Maintenance: Periodically check the tightness of hinges and other hardware. Lubricate moving parts (e.g., hinges, latch mechanism) if they begin to squeak or stiffen.
