FAQs
Are these gloves padded?
No, the Defend gloves utilize a single-layer Clarino palm for maximum tactile feedback and do not feature traditional foam or gel padding.
Can I use these for cold weather riding?
These gloves are designed for breathability and are not insulated; they are best suited for warm to mild riding conditions.
How do I determine my size?
Measure the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles; match this measurement against the Fox sizing chart to select between sizes S to 2X.
Are they machine washable?
Yes, they can be machine washed on a gentle, cold cycle, but should be air-dried to prevent damage to the material.
What is TruFeel?
TruFeel is the injection of internal TPR knobbies at the fingertips, designed to provide better connection and grip with your brake levers.
Troubleshooting
Touchscreen not responding
Ensure the conductive portion of the fingertip is clean and making direct contact with the screen. Oils or trail dirt on the glove may interfere with conductivity.
Gloves feel too loose
Check that the compression cuff is properly aligned at the wrist. Ensure you have selected the correct size (S, M, L, XL, or 2X) for your hand circumference.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Lightweight and breathable design
- Excellent tactile feedback through the thin palm
- Secure compression-molded fit
- Touchscreen compatible fingertips
- Durable construction suitable for MTB
Cons
- No impact armor or knuckle protection
- Not intended for cold-weather riding
- Single-layer palm may wear out faster than padded alternatives
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Fox Defend gloves, it is important to handle them properly.
Setup: Slide your hand through the compression-molded cuff, ensuring the palm material is taut against the skin for the best tactile response.
Compatibility: These gloves are compatible with most modern smartphone and GPS device screens.
Care Instructions: Machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air dry in the shade to maintain the elasticity of the 4-way stretch fabric and the integrity of the conductive palm material. Avoid using bleach, fabric softeners, or high-heat tumble drying as these can damage the synthetic materials and the injected TPR grips.
