FAQs
Are these shoes waterproof?
The standard Terrex Ax4r model is designed for breathability and durability; it is not inherently waterproof.
Are these suitable for wide feet?
The fit is generally standard; however, the lacing system allows for some adjustability to accommodate slight variations in foot width.
How do I determine my size?
The Terrex Ax4r conforms to standard UK adult sizing. It is recommended to measure your feet in the afternoon when they are at their largest.
Can I use these for trail running?
While rugged enough for hiking, their construction is optimized for stability rather than the lightweight flexibility required for dedicated trail running.
What is the best way to dry them if they get wet?
Remove the insoles and air dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight.
Troubleshooting
Feeling pressure points during first wear
Adjust your lacing technique to distribute tension more evenly and wear them for shorter durations during the break-in phase.
Accumulation of debris inside the shoe
Ensure the tongue is centered before lacing and consider using gaiters if hiking in loose gravel or fine sand.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Terrex Ax4r shoes provide maximum utility, consider the following:
- Break-in: Wear your shoes on shorter, flat walks before taking them on a long, technical hike to allow the materials to mold to your foot shape.
- Sizing: These shoes follow standard adult UK sizing; verify your fit while wearing the same thickness of socks you intend to use for hiking.
- Cleaning: After muddy hikes, remove loose debris with a soft-bristled brush. Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid machine washing or drying, as high heat can damage the bonding agents and materials.
- Storage: Always store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the integrity of the synthetic upper.
