Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
To ensure your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots perform optimally and last longer, follow these guidelines:
Setup
- First Wear: When first trying on the boots, wear the type of socks you typically use for football. Ensure a snug, comfortable fit without excessive pressure points. The thinnest upper brings you closer to the ball, so expect a very direct feel.
- Lacing: Lace them securely but not overly tight. The integrated upper construction provides support, so over-tightening is usually unnecessary and can cause discomfort. Experiment with lacing patterns to find your preferred lockdown.
- Break-in Period: While the flexible upper is designed for comfort, some players may benefit from a short break-in period. Wear them for light training sessions or casual use before a full match to allow them to mold to your feet.
Compatibility
- Playing Surface: These are Firm Ground (FG) football boots. They are specifically designed for use on natural grass pitches that are dry or slightly damp.
- Avoid Other Surfaces: Using FG boots on artificial grass (AG), soft ground (SG), or indoor courts can lead to premature stud wear, reduced grip, and potential injury. It is strongly recommended to use appropriate footwear for each specific surface.
Care
- Cleaning After Each Use: After every training session or match, gently wipe off loose dirt and grass from the upper and soleplate using a soft brush or a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Gripknit Care: The Gripknit material can be cleaned with a damp cloth to maintain its 'sticky' feel and weather-resistant properties. Remove any mud or debris that might be lodged in the knit.
- Drying: Allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct sunlight or use artificial heat sources (like radiators or hair dryers), as this can damage the materials and adhesives.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, remove the insoles and air them out separately. You can also place odor-absorbing sachets inside the boots.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Using a boot bag can protect them from dust and damage during transport.
