Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
As a garment, the Belstaff Fieldmaster Jacket requires no complex setup. Simply unpack and wear. It's ready to provide style and protection straight out of the packaging.
Compatibility
This jacket's classic black color and versatile design make it highly compatible with a wide range of wardrobe styles. It can be effortlessly integrated into both casual and more dressed-up ensembles. Pair it with:
- Casual: Jeans, t-shirts, knitwear, and boots or sneakers.
- Smart Casual: Chinos, button-down shirts, and loafers or smart trainers.
- Layering: Wear over light sweaters or under heavier overcoats for added warmth in cooler climates.
Care
Proper care is essential to maintain the unique properties and longevity of your waxed cotton jacket. Always refer to the specific care label inside your jacket, but general guidelines for waxed cotton include:
- Cleaning: Do not machine wash, tumble dry, dry clean, or use hot water and harsh detergents. This can damage or remove the wax coating. Instead, sponge clean with cold water to remove dirt. For stubborn marks, a soft brush and cold water can be used carefully.
- Drying: Allow the jacket to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat sources like radiators or open fires.
- Re-waxing: Over time, the waxed coating may wear down, especially in areas of high friction (e.g., elbows, shoulders). To maintain its water and wind repellency, the jacket may need to be re-waxed periodically. Belstaff offers specific reproofing waxes and services.
- Storage: Store the jacket in a cool, dry place. Avoid folding it tightly for extended periods, as this can create permanent creases. Hang it loosely to allow air circulation.
