Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setting up the Soft Butterfly Netting is straightforward. The material is lightweight and flexible, allowing it to be draped directly over plants, beds, or placed over hoops, frames, cages, and cloches. To secure the netting, use garden netting pegs, clips, or bury the edges slightly into the soil around the perimeter of the area you are covering. This ensures a complete seal against pests.
The netting is compatible with a wide range of vegetables, particularly brassicas such as cabbage, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, pak choi, turnips, salad leaves, and chard. It can also be used over fruit crops where bee pollination is not immediately required (i.e., before flowering). For plants that rely on bee pollination, the netting must be temporarily removed or lifted when the flowers open to allow bees access.
Care for the netting by cleaning off excess soil or debris after use. Store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use to maximise its lifespan. With proper care, the UV-stabilised HDPE material is designed to last up to approximately 7 years.
