Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Lacing: Utilize the D-ring lacing system to achieve a snug, comfortable fit around your foot. Start from the bottom eyelets and pull evenly as you go up. Ensure your heel is secure and your toes have enough room to wiggle.
- Break-In Period: Like most quality leather footwear, your Allerdale shoes will benefit from a short break-in period. Wear them for shorter durations initially to allow the leather to mold to your foot for optimal comfort.
Compatibility
- Gender: These shoes are designed as a unisex product.
- Age Group: Suitable for adults.
- Sizing: Available in various UK adult foot sizes. Refer to the New Balance sizing chart for precise measurements. Consider trying them on with the type of socks you typically wear.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the aesthetic of your New Balance Allerdale shoes:
- Cleaning the Leather: Use a soft brush or damp cloth to remove dirt and debris after each use. For deeper cleaning, apply a dedicated leather cleaner according to product instructions.
- Conditioning: Regularly apply a good quality leather conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking, especially in dry conditions. This also helps maintain its rich color.
- Drying: If your shoes get wet, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, which can dry out and damage the leather.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Shoe trees can help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
- Water Resistance: While the thick leather offers some natural resistance to light moisture, these shoes are not fully waterproof. Consider applying a waterproofing spray designed for leather if you anticipate encountering wet conditions, re-applying periodically.
