Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using the Lyle and Scott Puffer Coat is straightforward:
- Unpack: Remove the coat from its packaging and any attached tags.
- Inspect: Give the coat a quick check for any manufacturing defects or loose threads.
- Wear: Simply zip up the front fastening. Ensure the high collar is pulled up for maximum warmth if desired.
Compatibility
- Age Group: Designed specifically for kids, this particular model is sized for ages 9-10 years (UK sizing). Always consult the brand's size chart for precise measurements.
- Layering: Its regular fit allows for comfortable layering over t-shirts, long-sleeve tops, or light sweaters, making it versatile for different temperatures.
- Weather: Ideal for cold and chilly conditions. While durable, it's best suited for dry cold or light precipitation. For heavy rain, a dedicated waterproof outer shell would be recommended as this coat is not fully waterproof.
Care
To ensure the longevity and performance of your quilted puffer coat, follow these care instructions:
- Washing: Generally, puffer coats made of polyester should be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water. Use a mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners as they can reduce insulation effectiveness. Zip up all zippers before washing.
- Drying: Tumble dry on low heat with two or three clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This helps to fluff the insulation and prevent clumping. Ensure the coat is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew; this may require multiple drying cycles.
- Bleaching: Do not bleach.
- Ironing: Do not iron.
- Dry Cleaning: Do not dry clean.
- Storage: Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid compressing the coat for extended periods to help maintain its loft and insulating properties.
