The Saucony Xodus Ultra 4 is designed for long-distance trail runners who demand a balance of plush cushioning and aggressive traction. Featuring advanced foam technology and a durable outsole, these trainers are ideal for tackling rugged, uneven terrain during endurance training or racing; however, those seeking a minimalist or low-profile racing flat may find the added protection and cushioning slightly bulkier than expected.

The standard Xodus Ultra 4 is designed for breathability and is not waterproof. If you require water resistance, consider the GTX version of this series.
While these can handle short road transitions, the 4mm lug design is optimized for trails. Extended use on pavement will cause premature wear of the outsole.
The shoe features a 6mm heel-to-toe drop.
The Xodus Ultra 4 has a standard fit. If you have very wide feet, you may want to try them on in-store to ensure the midfoot volume is sufficient.
Trail running shoe lifespan varies based on terrain and runner weight, but generally, you can expect between 300 to 500 miles of performance.
Try using the runner's loop (heel lock) lacing technique to secure the ankle more firmly.
Use a stiff brush or a stick to clear debris from the outsole after every run to maintain maximum traction.
Remove the insoles after every use and stuff the shoes with newspaper to absorb moisture, which also helps the shoes keep their shape.
To ensure optimal performance, verify that the shoe provides a snug fit around the midfoot with enough room in the toe box to accommodate natural foot swelling during long runs. Ensure you break the shoes in on shorter trail runs before attempting ultra-distance efforts. For care, avoid machine washing or drying. After muddy runs, remove the insoles and clean the outsoles using a soft-bristled brush and cool water. Allow the shoes to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources to preserve the integrity of the foam cushioning and upper materials.
